SHould my body be aching? I haven’t read anywhere about that. My muscles all over hurt and my back really is sore. Is that typical? Is it the toxins? I read a little bit about Ketosis and that doesn’t sound like it, plus I am eating so much fruit it would be hard to imagine I am not getting enough carbs. Anyway, I am curious. I have a very fast metabolism and often eat as much as 3,000 calories a day- thoughts???????

    • Jen Reilly says:

Never heard of aches, Jaime. But, if the detox is very different from your typical diet, then you may get some wacky side effects. Are you getting enough calories, and is your energy level ok? Also, be sure you’re drinking enough water in case it is the toxins… you need to get those puppies OUT! Keep me posted 🙂 – Jen

I felt tremendously better half way through yesterday. The half way point- I was very low energy, which is so unusual for me, so who knows. Maybe I should have been drinking even more water than you recommended because typically I drink 3-4 nalgenes a day, so I am a big water girl, so maybe I just needed more. Oh, well. I am home free now. I feel great. I’m not hungry or lacking energy. Thanks for always answering. I did bump up the calories for sure.

End of Day 4….. simply exhausted… I feel foggy throughout the day and have no energy whatsoever. While I may have missed a few snacks through these four days I always drink tons of water and sometimes I feel a little drunk…..this doesn’t make me feel better at all! Am I the only one?

    • Jen Reilly says:

Hi Cheryl, Apologies for my late reply — Hopefully the fogginess passed (it’s normal), but perhaps the detox was just too far from your typical diet day? If that’s the case, a few more detox “prep” days where you’re easing into more veggies and away from anything processed may be necessary for a smoother detox week. Let me know how you ended up doing — I’m impressed that you made it at least 4 days! 🙂 – Jen

  3. Jocelyn says:

Hi Jen.. Is there something I can substitute Tofu for? I find myself a bit sensitive to it and wonder what my alternatives are. Thanks 🙂

    • Jen Reilly says:

Hey Jocelyn! Tofu is just a protein food during the detox. You can substitute any bean or lentil or even nuts. I prefer tempeh over tofu, but if you’re sensitive to all soy, then that’s not a good option. Good luck! 🙂 – Jen XOXO

Loved the Pupusas last night, made my own corn tortillas for the first time which turned out not too bad :-). I’m using some of the fat free refried beans and a little bit of houmous left over from last night for my mid afternoon snack today instead of black bean dip. Forgot to soak some dried black beans overnight yesterday and I’m trying to think of ways to use up the rest of the refried bean tin.

I’ve been missing out the mid morning berries as I don’t drink my juice/smoothy at 10 but still want to eat lunch at 12.30-1.00. Hope this is ok.

    • Jen Reilly says:

Totally ok, Hazel! Also know that you can do a “quick soak” of beans in 1 hour by putting them in a pot of water, bringing it to a boil, and then taking them off the heat and letting them sit for an hour. Then, drain the water and simmer them in new water for another hour. Done! I *never* remember to soak beans overnight, so this saves me. xoxo Jen

hey !! I’m 18 and I’m vegan , I was doing super great with your detox until today (day 3) , I’m craving fatttts ! I’m just panicking right now, i ate lottts of organic shredded coconut then cacao powder with coconut oil, 4 home made mini bread (not gluten free) with mycroco cacao butter (not real cacao butter, its cooking powder) & finally raw cashews. Should I fast for the rest of the day? I just don’t want to do anything and stay in my bed , feel so angry about myself.
