Jen, I havent done this but was thinking of doing so. Last week was way too crazy in my house! Usually when I cook quinoa or brown rice, I use broth instead of water, or oil/margarine and salt. I assume this is a no-no. What seasoning is okay for the grains and what, if any, salad dressing can I use? (Just in case I want to sub recipes)

Hey Jules! Broth is totally fine — it’s the sugar and processed stuff you want to avoid during the detox. I’d recommend veggie bouillon and/or a touch of olive oil/salt. All herbs and spices are fine too. I tend to use a basil/oregano/thyme/rosemary mix or curry powder/garam masala. For salad dressing, I like olive oil/ rice vinegar/ salt, or TJ’s Light Champagne Vinaigrette or Goddess Dressing. Enjoy!

I’m on day 7 and I am amazed- I haven’t been hungry, craving anything, or feeling deprived the entire week! The recipes have been anything but boring and make me look forward to eating fruit and veggies. I’m definitely getting your book and I plan on keeping this going! Thank you!

So I just finished this detox a while ago ,and it was definitely effective for me to lose a couple pounds. I wanted to ask if its ok to prolong it? Or is this too restrictive to do for a long period of time?

    • Jen Reilly says:

This detox can be prolonged, and lots of my nutrition patients follow the detox Monday through Friday and then loosen the rules on the weekend. Just make sure you’re supplementing with reliable sources of calcium, vitamin B12, and vitamin D to meet your needs. Have fun! – Jen

Thank you for posting this detox. My doctor recommended a fruit, vegetable, plant based detox. I am eager to start. Before I do, I have a few questions….
.1) Can I eat the same food everyday? If I just eat the same food that you planned for day 1, for all 7 days, will I get the same effect?
    2) What should I eat after day 7?
    3) If I detox for 14 days instead, will that be ok?

    Thank you so much!

I am very skinny to begin with. I am looking for a detox that would help cleanse the system and create more energy but don’t necessarily want to loose weight. Should I be adding / removing anything from this 7 day plan and I am vegetarian..

Just dropping by to say I am a newbie to your site but I’m on on day 7 and I am mostly shocked at how much weight I’ve lost. And I’m vegetarian already! I have just been eating very, very badly lately. I must say it has been easy on the eating choices part because I love vegetables and grains anyway. And I bought your cookbook and received it on day five, and have already seen lots of things I want to make, and the things I did make were YUMMY. The hard part was constantly cooking and cleaning my cooking dishes – I don’t think my sink has been empty all week and my kitchen looked like a disaster area. But I shared the food I made with my mom or friends and they enjoyed it, too. Caveat: I did not cut out caffeine completely because I didn’t want to put my coworkers through that, but I did hold myself to a cup of coffee or tea in the morning and put soy milk in it instead of sugar and half-and-half.

I lost eight pounds, and trying not to be indelicate, but I’ve never been so “regular” in my life. Not in a bad way, but that probably accounts for a pound or two.

Thank you for sharing and I can’t wait to make some of the other easy- and tasty-sounding recipes in the book. It’s a lovely book with great pictures.

Omg! This has been such an incredible booster. Both my boyfriend and I lost 4 lbs and we fit into our skinny jeans again! Yay. This detox is fabulous. I can’t wait to share my results with everyone. Thank you for the time you spent to create this!
